The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green and blue.


Web colors are colors used in displaying web pages, and the methods for describing and specifying those colors. Colors may be specified as an RGB triplet or in hexadecimal format (a hex triplet) or according to their common English names in some cases. A color tool or other graphics software is often used to generate color values. In some uses, hexadecimal color codes are specified with notation using a leading number sign (#).

BMP: Bitmap

BMP is a standard image format on DOS and Windows-compatible computers. BMP format supports RGB, Indexed Color, Grayscale, and Bitmap color modes.

JPEG/JPG: Joint Photographic Experts Group

JPEG och JPG standard image format and the most popular one used on the web (low resolution). It is also used in print (high resolution) Is the preferred format for photographs. JPG files are also smaller in size as compared to other image formats. But if compressed repeatedly the overall quality of a JPG image is reduced. JPEG format supports CMYK, RGB, and Grayscale color modes, but does not support alpha channels.

TIFF / TIF: Tagged Image File Format

TIFF/TIF is the standard file format for high-quality images and is commonly used in professional environments and commercial printing. TIF formats are considered to be the most reliable format supporting CMYK, RGB, Lab, Indexed Color, Grayscale, and Bitmap color modes. TIF is a flexible bitmap image format supported by virtually all paint, image-editing, and page layout applications.
